Job summary

Flex seeks a Project Engineer in Dundalk, Ireland to coordinate across Sales, Design, Procurement and Production for LV/MV switchgear projects. You will drive engineering deliverables, ensure technical compliance, and maintain clear communication with internal teams and external clients.

You will work with Production and Design teams to ensure timely, accurate design outputs and manage project documentation and change control.

Qualifications

• 3rd Level qualification or Electrical trade qualification is required.
• 3+ years’ experience in an electrical manufacturing industry (LV/MV Switchgear, Busduct, UPS).
• Energy Management, PLC and Automation experience would be beneficial.
• Project Management qualifications and skills as well as experience with AutoCAD software.
• Effective problem-solving skills, self-motivated and initiative.
• Knowledge of BS/IEC standards relating to switchgear and control gear assemblies.
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
• Team player with ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel within the EMEA region.
• Fluent in English essential.

Responsibilities

• Early engagement with clients to support tender submissions and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical expertise of product ranges.
• Coordinate handover from Sales/Tendering to Design Engineering.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to convert tenders into deliverables.
• Review project information to enable design progress.
• Monitor and manage engineering design programmes.
• Prepare project-specific design calculations.
• Facilitate design and BOM reviews for customer compliance.
• Coordinate with Procurement to ensure material availability.
• Liaise with clients on progress and resolve issues.
• Manage RFIs and RFQs with engineering and PM staff.
• Implement design changes based on updated client specifications.
• Act as technical contact for live projects during vendor calls and on-site activities.
• Support production with design clarification and information flow.
