Job summary

Harry Walsh Associates Recruitment is seeking a skilled machinist for a specialist engineering company in Bandon. You will set up and operate manual or CNC machines, tackle complex jobs and support other machinists during changeovers while maintaining quality on the shop floor.

The role blends hands-on machining with troubleshooting, tooling checks, and ensuring workflow runs smoothly, with close collaboration to tool setters and engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hands-on manufacturing or machining environment.
• Familiarity with manual or CNC machines and proven ability to adjust/edit NC programs.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and cutting conditions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual or CNC machines for more complex or precision-critical jobs.
• Assist machinists with setups, tool changes, and machine adjustments when needed and support training of others as required.
• Support day-to-day machining operations by handling more advanced tasks and keeping machines running effectively.
• Work closely with tool setters, engineers, or production staff to ensure jobs are ready and tooling is correct.
• Assist with troubleshooting and help maintain workflow and quality on the shop floor.

Supports day-to-day machining operations by handling more advanced tasks than a Machinist. This includes setting up complex jobs, supporting other machinists during changeovers or issues, checking parts to higher standards, and keeping machines running effectively. The role combines hands-on machining skills with responsibility for maintaining workflow, assisting with troubleshooting, and ensuring quality is upheld on the shop floor.
