Job summary

Sonas Domestic Violence Charity provides frontline safety and support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. A Maintenance Officer is needed to keep our premises safe, secure, and well-maintained, with repairs carried out safely and professionally.

The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring work orders meet targets. A strong hands-on approach, attention to detail, and health & safety understanding are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on multi-functional property facilities maintenance experience.
  • Valid Safepass is required.
  • Experience in facilities, maintenance, porter, or handyman roles is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically fit to lift, carry and move equipment safely.
  • Full clean driving licence; company van provided.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the fabric and grounds of the complex are maintained to an excellent standard.
  • To ensure all works undertaken comply with health and safety regulations.
  • To carry out planned and reactive maintenance/repairs, including painting/decorating, plastering, light bulb changes, plumbing, gutter work, door/window repairs, and routine safety testing.
  • To ensure that maintenance tasks align with work order target completion times.
  • Prioritising and planning workload in line with response times framework; order materials and process paperwork per policy.
  • To keep all tools/equipment in good/safe order and report damaged equipment immediately to the Housing Manager.
  • Receive and distribute deliveries and supplies.
  • Assist contractors and maintenance engineers during scheduled works.

Maintenance Officer

Pay: €51,418.00 per year

Job Description:

Sonas Domestic Violence Charity provides frontline safety and support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. As part of our commitment to maintaining safe, secure, and well-maintained environments, we are now seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our team.

This role is essential in ensuring that our premises are maintained to a high standard, with repairs and general maintenance carried out safely, efficiently, and professionally. The successful candidate will have a practical, hands-on approach, good attention to detail, and a strong understanding of health and safety, confidentiality, and the sensitive nature of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • To ensure that the fabric and grounds of the complex are maintained and kept to an excellent standard.
  • To ensure all works undertaken comply with health and safety regulations
  • To carry out planned and reactive maintenance/repairs, which include (but are not limited to) painting/decorating, making‑good plaster, changing light bulbs, plumbing, gutter cleaning/repair, railing/fence work, minor door/window repairs, window/path cleaning, minor concrete and masonry repairs, routine testing of fire alarm call points/emergency light test switches/water temperature monitoring, and any other maintenance work as required.
  • To ensure that all maintenance tasks carried out are in line with work order target completion times.
  • Prioritising and planning workload in line with response times framework. Ordering materials and ensuring that all paperwork and delivery notes are processed in line with Sonas policies.
  • To keep all tools/equipment in good/safe order and to report any damaged/defective

equipment immediately to the Housing Manager

  • Receive and distribute deliveries and supplies.
  • Assist contractors and maintenance engineers during scheduled works.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a hands‑on multifunctional property facilities maintenance role
  • Valid Safepass
