Job summary

The Hardiman in Galway is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the on-site maintenance team and safeguard the hotel’s historic fabric and modern facilities. You will oversee preventive and reactive maintenance, ensuring guest areas and back-of-house spaces operate safely and efficiently.

Job description

The Hardiman Hotel, a landmark four-star hotel located in the heart of Galway city, is seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to join our management team. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for maintaining the hotel's historic fabric, modern facilities, and guest areas to the highest operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and motivate the maintenance team on a daily basis
• Plan and oversee preventive and reactive maintenance across the hotel
• Ensure all plant, equipment, bedrooms, and public areas are maintained efficiently
• Coordinate external contractors and manage service schedules
• Ensure compliance with all health & safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations
• Work closely with hotel management and department heads to support seamless operations
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience in maintenance management or a senior maintenance role
• Strong technical knowledge with hands-on problem-solving ability
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Hospitality industry experience is highly desirable
• Relevant trade qualifications or certifications are an advantage
