The Byrne Hotel Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance across Eyre Square Hotel and Victoria Hotel in Galway. You will handle a variety of systems, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to guest requests to ensure smooth operations.

This hands-on role requires independent work, strong technical know-how in electrical, plumbing, HVAC or carpentry, and a proactive, safety-conscious approach.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance experience in hotel or similar facility.
• Knowledge in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC or general repairs.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance requests from guests and departments.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance across bedrooms, public areas, kitchens, and plant rooms.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building repairs.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, fire safety standards, and company policies.
• Support larger projects and refurbishment work where required.
• Respond promptly to urgent issues to minimise downtime and disruption.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to oversee the Eyre Square Hotel and Victoria Hotel maintenance needs. This role is central to ensuring both hotels operates smoothly, efficiently, and safely for guests and staff alike. You will work across a variety of systems, equipment, and building areas, supporting both proactive and reactive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance requests from guests and departments.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance across bedrooms, public areas, kitchens, and plant rooms.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building repairs.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, fire safety standards, and company policies.
• Support larger projects and refurbishment work where required.
• Respond promptly to urgent issues to minimise downtime and disruption.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in maintenance, building services, or a similar trade (hotel experience desirable but not essential).
• Strong technical knowledge in at least one of the following: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, or general repairs.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
• Flexible and adaptable with a hands-on attitude.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Awareness of health, safety, and fire regulations.
