Job summary

Vickerstock is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced 24/7 food manufacturing operation in Longford. The role involves responding to breakdowns, executing planned maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement to minimise downtime.

You will work closely with Production and Engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable operation of production equipment and adherence to PM schedules.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance/Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience.
  • Food manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns across the production line.
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance.
  • Monitor equipment performance and address issues proactively.
  • Work with Production to achieve operational targets.
  • Maintain PM records and engineering handover sheets.
  • Complete shift handovers and communicate outstanding issues.
  • Participate in engineering improvements and process projects.
  • Support safety, hygiene and audits.
  • Ensure spares are correctly recorded and issues resolved.
  • Follow Permit to Work procedures where required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in production and workshop areas.
  • Work safely and in line with site procedures.

Vickerstock are currently recruiting for experienced Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join the maintenance team of a fast-paced 24/7 food manufacturing business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy production environment, supporting the safe and reliable operation of production equipment and minimising downtime.

The Role

Working closely with the Production and Engineering teams, you will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, completing planned and preventative maintenance and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns across the production line
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively address issues
  • Work closely with Production to achieve operational targets
  • Maintain accurate PM records and engineering handover sheets
  • Complete thorough shift handovers and communicate outstanding issues
  • Participate in engineering improvements and process projects
  • Support safety, hygiene and engineering audits
  • Ensure engineering spares are correctly recorded and issues fully resolved
  • Follow Permit to Work procedures where required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across production and workshop areas
  • Work safely and in line with site procedures and policies
About You
  • Previous experience in a Maintenance/Engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience
  • Food manufacturing experience would be advantageous
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with planned and preventative maintenanceAbility to work independently and as part of a wider Engineering team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with Production
Shift Pattern

This is a 4-cycle continental shift pattern incorporating days and nights:

  • Week 1: Monday & Tuesday days | Wednesday & Thursday off | Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights
  • Week 2: Monday & Tuesday off | Wednesday & Thursday days | Friday, Saturday & Sunday off
  • The pattern then repeats from Week 1
