Job summary

Panelto Foods in Ireland is seeking experienced Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join our 24/7 food manufacturing maintenance team. You will maintain safe, efficient production equipment, respond to breakdowns, and perform planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.

This role operates on a shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends and public holidays. You will collaborate with production to ensure lines run safely and efficiently and support operational targets.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in engineering is required.
  • Experience in a Food or Pharma environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and fault-find electrical systems.
  • Aptitude for both mechanical and electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient running of the production line and address mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with the production team to achieve operational targets.
  • Monitor line and machine performance and take proactive measures when performance deteriorates.
  • Attend engineering briefings and participate in safety audits.
  • Maintain PM records and complete handover documentation.
  • Work on engineering and process improvements and ensure housekeeping in production areas.

Job Summary

We are looking for experienced Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join our maintenance team within a fast-paced, 24/7 food manufacturing environment.

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our production equipment, responding promptly to mechanical or electrical breakdowns, and carrying out planned and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.

Working closely with the Production team, the successful candidate will help ensure equipment and production lines operate safely and efficiently while supporting the achievement of operational targets.

Please note: This is a 24/7 manufacturing operation, and the role will operate on a shift-based working pattern, including day and night shifts, weekends and public holidays as part of the agreed rota.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the efficient running of the production line, addressing mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with the production team to achieve operational targets.
  • Monitor production line and machine performance, taking proactive measures when performance deteriorates.
  • Attend Engineering team briefings and participate in safety and hygiene audits.
  • Maintain PM records and ensure all PMs are up to date.
  • Receive detailed handover from the previous shift and complete maintenance handover sheets.
  • Walk the production line thoroughly, discussing issues and resolutions with Supervisors/Production Operators.
  • Ensure traceability of all Engineering spares and fully resolve issues.
  • Use permit to work rules where required.
  • Participate in engineering and process improvements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in both production areas and the engineering workshop.
  • Work independently and perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering manager.
Qualifications and / or Experience:
  • Third Level Engineering qualification is an advantage.
  • Trade qualification required.
  • Champion health and safety, providing expertise and leading by example.
  • Previous experience in a Food or Pharma environment preferred.
  • Aptitude for both Mechanical and Electrical engineering.
  • Ability to read and navigate Electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of Bakery, Process, or Packaging machinery.
  • Knowledge of Pemac or similar CMMS System.
  • Experience in Line Support and Troubleshooting.
  • PLC Experience (Siemens S7) is an advantage.
  • Strong people and communication skills.
  • Experience in Engineering-related Projects.
  • Ability to repair industrial production equipment such as high-speed machines, conveyors, packaging machines, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulics.
  • Skills in TIG Welding and Stainless-steel Fabrication.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Welding, Fabricating, and machining.
