Job summary

Eden Social Care is seeking a reliable Maintenance & Delivery Operative to support residential services across the southeast. This hands-on role includes routine maintenance, deliveries, collections and practical support to keep homes safe, comfortable and well-maintained for children, young people and staff.

You will manage stock and vehicles, follow health and safety procedures, and travel between services as needed.

Qualifications

• Full, clean Irish or EU driving licence.
• Experience in general maintenance, facilities management or similar hands-on role.
• Practical problem-solving skills and good workmanship.
• Physical ability for manual handling and lifting.
• Manual Handling and Safe Pass certification, or willingness to obtain them.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritise planned work and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
• Flexibility to travel between services and respond to changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs (painting, plumbing, electrical touch-ups).
• Keep buildings, grounds and car parks safe, clean and tidy.
• Complete deliveries and collections between services; load and unload goods safely.
• Keep company vehicle clean, roadworthy and checked; report faults.
• Manage stock, equipment and tools; maintain records.
• Liaise with service managers, staff, suppliers and contractors as needed.
• Follow health and safety, safeguarding and confidentiality procedures around children and staff.
• Provide practical support across Eden Social Care services as required.

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Maintenance & Delivery Operative to support our residential services and facilities across the southeast. This is a varied, hands-on position involving general property maintenance, deliveries, collections and practical support across our services.

You will help ensure that our homes and facilities remain safe, comfortable and suitable for the children, young people and staff who use them. The role requires professionalism, discretion and an understanding of the importance of working respectfully within care environments.

The role

As a Maintenance & Delivery Operative, you will:

• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs, including painting, basic plumbing, electrical touch-ups, and repairs to fixtures and fittings.
• Keep Eden Social Care buildings, grounds and car parks safe, clean and tidy.
• Complete deliveries and collections between services, loading and unloading goods safely.
• Keep the company vehicle clean, roadworthy and regularly checked, reporting faults promptly.
• Manage stock, equipment and tools, and maintain simple delivery, vehicle and maintenance records.
• Liaise with service managers, staff, suppliers and contractors when specialist work is required.
• Follow health and safety, safeguarding and confidentiality procedures, working respectfully around children and young people.
• Provide practical support across Eden Social Care services as required.

About you

You will be dependable, practical and organised, with the ability to manage your workload and work independently. You will also understand the importance of professionalism, and confidentiality within a social care setting.

The successful candidate should have:

• A full, clean Irish or EU driving licence.
• Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities management, property services or a similar hands-on role.
• Practical problem-solving skills and a good standard of workmanship.
• The physical ability to complete manual handling and lifting duties safely.
• Manual Handling and Safe Pass certification, or a willingness to obtain them.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to prioritise planned work and respond appropriately to urgent maintenance needs.

• Eligibility to work in Ireland.

• A competitive salary of €31,500-€34,500 per year, depending on experience.
