Stewart Construction is seeking an experienced M&E Coordinator to join our team on large-scale Irish construction projects.

The role focuses on coordinating M&E subcontractors, reviewing drawings, and ensuring works comply with health, safety and environmental standards, BCAR requirements, and project specs. Strong communication and planning skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Building Services or Construction Management Engineering is required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in M&E coordination or building services on Irish sites.
  • Solid knowledge of Irish building regulations, BCAR and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with BIM, AutoCAD, Procore or other PM software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate M&E subcontractors to align with programme and sequence.
  • Review M&E drawings and specifications for accuracy and constructability.
  • Develop and maintain M&E installation schedules.
  • Ensure M&E works meet Irish regulations, building control and project specs.
  • Assist in design reviews and communicate technical queries to designers.

Job description

Stewart Construction, one of Ireland’s leading main contractors with over 120 years of experience, is currently seeking an experienced M&E Coordinator to join our growing team.

We deliver high-quality commercial, industrial, educational and healthcare projects across Ireland and pride ourselves on our collaborative culture and commitment to excellence.

This role offers the opportunity to work within an established site team on large-scale construction projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture on site, ensuring all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and in line with company and statutory requirements.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure works are carried out in the correct sequence and to programme.
  • Review M&E drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and buildability.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining M&E installation schedules.
  • Ensure M&E works comply with Irish regulations, building control requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, identifying potential issues or clashes at an early stage.
  • Liaise with design consultants to resolve technical queries and discrepancies.
  • Monitor the quality of M&E installations throughout the construction phase.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and workmanship standards.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and commissioning documentation.
  • Act as the main point of contact between site operations, M&E subcontractors, and the design team.
  • Attend site coordination meetings and circulate minutes or updates as required.
  • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager in managing M&E-related queries and instructions.
  • Assist in preparing commissioning plans, ensuring all systems are tested, balanced, and demonstrated.
  • Review and compile O&M manuals and handover documentation.
  • Ensure all required certifications are completed and submitted."
  • Participate and engage fully in company appraisal/performance review processes and constantly work to improve your individual, your team and the wider group’s performance.
  • Promote and uphold the company's values, standards, and reputation in all dealings with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Building Services or Construction Management Engineering.
  • Additional training or certification in health & safety or building services is advantageous.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in an M&E coordination or building services role on Irish construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of Irish building regulations, BCAR, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing, and related building services systems.
  • Familiarity with BIM, AutoCAD, Procore, or other project management software is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid Safepass and Manual Handling desirable
