Job summary

Stewart Construction, a leading Irish contractor, seeks an experienced M&E Coordinator to oversee M&E activities on major projects. You will coordinate mechanical and electrical teams, review drawings, and maintain installation schedules to ensure safety and quality on site.

You'll liaise with designers and consultants, manage commissioning plans, and support site management in delivering compliant, high-standard installations across hospital, educational, and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Building Services or Construction Management Engineering.
  • Additional training or certification in health & safety or building services is advantageous.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in an M&E coordination or building services role on Irish construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of Irish building regulations, BCAR, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing, and related building services systems.
  • Familiarity with BIM, AutoCAD, Procore, or other project management software is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid Safepass and Manual Handling desirable

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure works are carried out in the correct sequence and to programme.
  • Review M&E drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and buildability.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining M&E installation schedules.
  • Ensure M&E works comply with Irish regulations, building control requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, identifying potential issues or clashes at an early stage.
  • Liaise with design consultants to resolve technical queries and discrepancies.
  • Monitor the quality of M&E installations throughout the construction phase.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and workmanship standards.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and commissioning documentation.
  • Act as the main point of contact between site operations, M&E subcontractors, and the design team.
  • Attend site coordination meetings and circulate minutes or updates as required.
  • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager in managing M&E-related queries and instructions.
  • Assist in preparing commissioning plans, ensuring all systems are tested, balanced, and demonstrated.
  • Review and compile O&M manuals and handover documentation.
  • Ensure all required certifications are completed and submitted.
  • Participate and engage fully in company appraisal/performance review processes and constantly work to improve your individual, your team and the wider group’s performance.
  • Promote and uphold the company's values, standards, and reputation in all dealings with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies
