Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Ireland Roads team based in Dublin, Limerick or Naas. You will lead concept through detailed designs for major national road schemes and active travel projects, with strong client-facing responsibilities and a track record of delivery across local to national transport sectors.

You will manage multi-disciplinary inputs, develop staff, and prepare proposals while ensuring safety, quality and contract compliance across projects.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering road/active travel schemes under public authorities.
• Contract document prep or administration on Public Works contracts.
• Chartered engineer with relevant institution.
• Exposure to Civil3D/Open Roads/WinDes preferred.
• Strong communication and client management skills.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Projects.
• Solid knowledge of DMURS and NTA/TII guidelines.
• Stakeholder management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage projects for road and active travel schemes with multi-disciplinary inputs.
• Liaise with clients, develop trusted relationships, and manage expectations.
• Assume project technical lead and reviewer roles.
• Develop staff and provide guidance on design delivery.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets.
• Deliver design drawings, specifications and BOQ for tender packages.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, and QA standards.
