Job summary

DPS Group Global in Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design activities for wastewater treatment projects. You will coordinate the design team and work under the guidance of a design manager to deliver outputs across a portfolio of works.

The role requires in-depth knowledge of water treatment processes, strong communication, and the ability to produce clear mechanical design deliverables.

Qualifications

• Chartered membership in a relevant professional body is an advantage but not essential.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Provide mentorship to junior/mechanical design engineers.
• Strong team leader & decision maker with proven experience.
• Water and wastewater design experience highly desirable.
• Commercial experience is desirable.
• An interest in developing a career within an industry‑leading organisation.
• Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and provide input at team meetings.
• Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise.
• Good working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
• Full driving licence

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Design Manager.
• Part of a multi‑disciplined team of engineers responsible to produce design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
• Assisting in mechanical design from site surveys, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
• Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment; hydraulic calculations and detailed design drawings.
• Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams.
• Work as part of a team to support project delivery function, embracing the ethos of a one team culture.
• Ensure Design, H&S, Environmental & Sustainability standards are adhered to.
• Monitor design delivery performance and update MIDP as needed.
• Produce mechanical design outputs as required.
• Ensure Clients Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
• Conduct regular meetings with project delivery teams to allocate resources and monitor plans.
• Monitor and update Design Change Control.
• Liaise between Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural Designers.
• Be involved in growth and development of the company including onboarding staff and recruitment.
