Job summary

Coffey in Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Team and support water and wastewater treatment projects. You will develop practical, efficient, and buildable mechanical designs while collaborating with clients, consultants, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

You will contribute to both new and existing facilities from feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2 to 7 years' engineering experience, preferably in water and wastewater.
• Experience in the UK or Ireland water/wastewater industry.
• Full Irish or EU driving licence and eligibility to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical and efficient mechanical designs that comply with project requirements and standards.
• Prepare and coordinate design drawings from concept to construction issue.
• Produce technical reports, calculations, specifications and design documentation.
• Support equipment selection, supplier evaluation, procurement and cost estimation.

Job description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Team and support the delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects. This role will be responsible for developing practical, efficient and buildable mechanical designs while working closely with internal teams, clients, consultants and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will contribute to the design of both new and existing water and wastewater treatment facilities, supporting projects from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop practical and efficient mechanical designs that comply with project requirements, industry standards and HSE requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate design drawings throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design through to construction issue.
• Produce technical reports, calculations, specifications and design documentation to support project delivery.
• Support equipment selection, supplier evaluation, procurement activities and cost estimation for mechanical process equipment.
• Work closely with project teams, clients, consultants and stakeholders to develop robust technical solutions and ensure successful project delivery.
• Provide engineering support throughout feasibility, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and project handover phases.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• 2 to 7 years' engineering experience, including some experience within the UK or Ireland water and wastewater industry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities effectively.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Full Irish or EU driving licence.
• Authorised to work in Ireland (Stamp 4 or Critical Skills Employment Permit).
• Experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Experience selecting and specifying mechanical process equipment including pumps, valves, screens, blowers, filters, centrifuges and associated systems.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
