Job summary

DPS Group Global is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for wastewater treatment projects in Ireland. You will lead a design team, coordinate across disciplines and ensure rigorous H&S and CDM standards are maintained throughout the design process.

The role requires strong communication, leadership and hands-on experience with mechanical design from surveys through detailed drawings, procurement specs and tender pricing. A proactive, growth-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution is an advantage if working towards incorporated or chartered status.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Mentor junior/graduate mechanical design engineers.
• Strong team leader & decision maker with proven experience.
• Water and wastewater design experience is highly desirable.
• Commercial experience is desirable.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Design Manager.
• Part of a multi-disciplined team responsible for design deliverables for water, wastewater and process treatment plants.
• Assist in all aspects of mechanical design from site surveys, optioneering, feasibility studies, detailed design and tender pricing.
• Produce procurement specifications for mechanical equipment; hydraulic calculations and detailed design drawings.
• Project manage third party designs and support installation and commissioning teams; liaise with clients and subcontractors.
• Work as part of a team to support project delivery in a one-team culture.
• Ensure design, health, safety, environmental & sustainability standards are followed.
• Monitor design delivery performance and MIDP; adjust as necessary to meet targets.
• Produce mechanical design outputs as required.
• Ensure Client Technical Requirements are met throughout the design.
• Conduct regular meetings to allocate resources and monitor the plan with project delivery teams.
• Monitor and update Design Change Control.
• Liaise between Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil & Structural Designers.
• Be involved in growth and development of the company including onboarding staff.
• Provide robust leadership and mentoring to site teams.
• Be eager to learn and progress in your own career and mentor junior staff.
• Other duties as required.
