Job summary

ESB is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Offshore EBoP Team in Ireland. The role centres on delivering onshore grid connections and offshore substations, coordinating interfaces and ensuring compliance with grid standards.

You will lead technical delivery, manage external contracts, and mentor junior engineers while working across projects such as Oriel, Gwynt Glas and Tonn Nua. A senior, commercially astute professional is sought.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years’ relevant experience in large-scale generation or energy sector.
• Strong design leadership and/or contract-management for substations or grid connections.
• Experience with scoping, planning, design, procurement, EPC contracts, commissioning support.
• Proven ability to manage commercial and technical aspects of delivery, tender evaluation.
• Strong decision-making, risk-management and ability to handle deadlines and priorities.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as electrical lead for onshore and offshore substations and interfaces.
• Lead design and delivery of substations, oversee system studies, FEED, protection and SCADA.
• Coordinate interfaces across transmission infrastructure and disciplines.
• Optimise design and support construction to maximise reliability, quality and safety.
• Ensure compliance with EirGrid, ESB, National Grid, IEC and IEEE standards.
• Input into LCOE model and support contractual/procurement activities.
• Represent ESB in regulatory discussions and industry forums.
• Develop substation layouts with partners and develop cost estimates for submissions.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across EMP.
