Job summary

Kraken is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel – Commercial (Partnerships) to lead product partnership legal efforts in a fast-paced, remote-first environment. You will partner with Product, Sales, Finance, Engineering, and Compliance to craft legally sound, innovative arrangements that accelerate Kraken’s product strategy.

You will guide contract negotiations, drive playbooks and CLM improvements, and support strategic initiatives, including potential M&A diligence, while mentoring

Qualifications

• J.D. or equivalent legal degree and active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of commercial legal experience, ideally a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house experience.
• Proven track record leading complex, high-stakes commercial transactions in a global environment, particularly in technology, SaaS, or partnerships.
• Deep understanding of product development and go-to-market strategies from a legal perspective.
• Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and managing teams.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, remote-first, innovation-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Kraken’s product partnership commercial legal efforts as the lead counsel.
• Collaborate with Product, Sales, Engineering, Finance, and Regulatory teams to design go-to-market structures and partnership models.
• Advise leadership on technology agreements, strategic partnerships, and terms of service.
• Develop and improve legal templates, playbooks, and risk management frameworks for scalable operations.
• Work with Compliance, Tax, and Regulatory to assess risk and enable opportunities.
• Support contract lifecycle management and drive process automation and improvements.
• Assist with M&A diligence and integration when needed.
• Take on additional projects assigned by the Head of Commercial Legal.
