Job summary

CareerWise Recruitment is seeking a Lab Technician for a North Cork based food production client. The role involves performing micro and chemistry laboratory duties, preparing media, testing for coliforms, fat and solids, and logging results as part of quality systems.

You will release bases from SAP, review production records, analyse KPI trends, and participate in audits. Weekend rota may be required; relevant third-level qualification and industry experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant 3rd level qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition, or Biochemistry.
• Experience working in a food production environment.

Responsibilities

• Micro laboratory duties: media preparation, micro testing (coliforms, Enterobacteriaceae, total count), read plates and log results, complete paperwork – logs and exception forms.
• Chemistry lab duties: test ice-cream bases by sampling from tanks, testing for colour, fats and solids.
• Test cream on intake temperature, taste, acidity, alcohol and fat.
• Test milk on intake temperature, taste, acidity, fat.
• Release bases and raw materials from SAP.
• Review production records (including CCP sign-off) for quality.
• Monthly KPI data trend analysis and internal auditing.
• Participate in customer and third-party quality & food safety audits.
• Weekend cover on rota basis

Duties

• Other Duties - Quality: Production record review (including CCP sign off)
• Monthly KPI data trend analysis, Internal Auditing
• Partake in customer and third-party quality & food safety audits
• Note: Weekend cover required on rota basis

Job Requirements
