Matrix Recruitment Group in Galway seeks a QC Technician to support microbiological testing and quality assurance in a collaborative lab environment.

The role focuses on performing standard microbiology tests, monitoring water quality, and maintaining documentation to ensure ISO17025/ISO9001 compliance. You will supervise and train junior staff as required and contribute to continuous improvement in the lab.

• Third-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g., microbiology).
• Experience working in a microbiology lab preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO17025 is a plus.

• Carry out microbiological tests including pH, contamination checks, growth promotion, and gel strength analysis.
• Perform weekly testing and monitoring of RO water quality.
• Maintain and validate culture organisms and laboratory methods.
• Conduct environmental monitoring in controlled areas.
• Keep laboratory housekeeping and cleaning routines up to date.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping for logs and trending.
• Manage consumables and oversee equipment calibration.
• Support investigations into non-conforming results and customer issues.

Your New Job:

As a QC Technician, you’ll report directly to the QC Lab Lead. Your day will revolve around providing microbiological support and performing essential laboratory tests. You’ll be part of a collaborative team, ensuring quality standards are consistently maintained.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carry out a variety of microbiological tests including pH, contamination checks, growth promotion, and gel strength analysis
• Perform weekly testing and monitoring of R.O. water quality
• Maintain and validate culture organisms and laboratory methods
• Conduct environmental monitoring in controlled areas
• Keep laboratory housekeeping and cleaning routines up to date
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping for logs and trending
