Job summary

Winthrop Technologies is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major data centre project in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to develop their commercial and project management skills alongside an experienced team.

The successful candidate will support cost management, subcontract packages, valuations, variations and other commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• 1–2 years’ relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or construction.
• Strong interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying and commercial management.
• Good understanding of construction processes and terminology.
• Good numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with CostX, Buildsoft or similar software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Quantity Surveyors and commercial team with the management of subcontract packages.
• Assist with the preparation of tender documentation, work packages, budgets and procurement activities.
• Assist with the analysis and review of subcontractor tender returns.
• Support the preparation and administration of subcontractor documentation.
• Assist with monthly valuations, payments and cost reporting.
• Assist with the preparation and assessment of variations, claims and other commercial matters.
• Monitor project costs and maintain accurate commercial records.
• Assist with the preparation of cost/value and cash flow reports.
• Support the preparation and agreement of external valuations.
• Assist with subcontractor final accounts and commercial close-out.
• Liaise with subcontractors, clients, designers and internal project teams as required.
• Ensure commercial documentation is prepared accurately and in a timely manner.
• Identify potential commercial issues and escalate them to the Senior Quantity Surveyor where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with the wider project team to support the successful delivery of the project.
• Develop knowledge of construction methods, measurement and commercial management.
