Job summary

Asset Recruitment is seeking a Junior Commercial Consultant for a leading global professional services and engineering consultancy in Ireland. You will support cost management, contract administration and compliance across transport infrastructure projects.

The role covers cost estimation, contractor payment verification, and preparation of variations and task orders, with involvement in audits, site inspections and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• A Level 8 NFQ/QQI qualification in Civil/Structural/Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Alternative: Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or Contract Management degree.
• 5+ years’ post-graduate experience on transport infrastructure projects.
• At least 3 years’ post-graduate experience overseeing and monitoring operations and maintenance.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Budget and cost management services including cost estimation.
• Assess and verify contractor payment applications to ensure payments are due and auditable.
• Support contract management, monitoring and supervision.
• Prepare draft responses for formal correspondence.
• Conduct audits, site inspections and compliance checks.
• Prepare Task Orders, Compensation Events or variation notices.
• Support commercial evaluation of Contractor submissions and PPP/OCM items.
• Review PPP Design and Design Check Certificates for compliance.
• Report on traffic data collection and patterns.
• Provide technical advice and monitor Tunnel Safety Directive obligations.
• Attend and review emergency exercises.

Junior Commercial Consultant

Our client is a leading global professional services and engineering consultancy, delivering complex infrastructure and engineering solutions across the transport sector and other major industries.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Budget and cost management services, including cost estimation using tendered rates, verification of payment requests, and recommendations for payment, under the direction of senior team members.
• Supporting the assessment and written verification of Contractor payment applications, ensuring that payments being made are properly due under the various contracts, represent good value for money and that appropriate and auditable records are maintained.
• Supporting the contract management and administration, performance monitoring activities and operational supervision.
• Preparing draft responses for formal correspondence in relation to the contracts.
• Conducting periodic audits, site inspections, monitoring and compliance checks of the operations, maintenance and asset management activities, processes and procedures, under the direction of the senior team members.
• Supporting the preparation and administration of Task Orders, Compensation Events or variation notices for the OMTTCC2G or PPP concessions.
• Supporting the commercial evaluation of Contractor submissions, including Task Orders and Compensation Events.
• Reviewing PPP Design and Design Check Certificates to ensure compliance and adequacy.
• Reporting in the collection of traffic data and patterns.
• Supporting the provision of technical advice and monitoring compliance with Tunnel Safety Directive obligations across all tunnels on the national road network.
• Attend and review OMTTCC2G and PPP emergency exercises (live and tabletop).

The role involves NEC4 and PPP contract administration. It involves liaison and coordination with the Client and Contractor team and internal team members and specialists. The individual will work within a multidisciplinary core team.

Requirements:

• A Level 8 qualification recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) / Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), or an equivalent qualification in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Candidates with a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or Contract Management may also be considered.
• 5+ years’ post-graduate experience working on transport infrastructure projects.
• At least 3 years’ post-graduate experience overseeing and monitoring operations and maintenance activities.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
