Job summary

Unum Ireland invites applications for the Infrastructure Network Engineer Internship as part of our 2027 IT Internship Program in Carlow. You will support day-to-day networking tasks, documentation, and basic troubleshooting while learning enterprise network infrastructure.

You'll work with our team to gain hands-on experience, develop problem-solving skills, and contribute to reliable, well-documented services within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
• Interest in enterprise network infrastructure and support processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to document work clearly and accurately.

Infrastructure Network Engineer Internship Unum Ireland - 2027 IT Internship Program

Infrastructure Network Team Supports the network engineering team with day-to-day operational tasks, documentation, basic troubleshooting, and project support while building hands- on knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure. Works with team members to learn core networking concepts, assist with routine activities, and contribute to reliable, secure, and well-documented services.

• Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching
• Interest in learning enterprise network infrastructure, tools, and support processes
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to document work clearly and accurately
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow established procedures
• Ability to manage time, stay organized, and handle multiple tasks
• Willingness to learn from feedback and work collaboratively with team members
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools and basic technical documentation
• Coursework, lab experience, or certifications in networking or IT would be beneficial
