Unum Ireland's Technology Centre in Carlow is launching a 2027 IT Internship Program. The Infrastructure Automation Engineer Internship supports the infrastructure team in identifying, testing, and documenting automation and AI-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.

Infrastructure Automation Engineer Internship

Unum Ireland - 2027 IT Internship Program

Infrastructure Automation Engineer Internship supports the infrastructure team in identifying, testing, and documenting automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency, consistency, and service delivery. Works with team members to assist with routine process automation, data gathering, workflow improvement, and basic scripting or tooling tasks while building hands-on knowledge of infrastructure operations, platforms, and support processes.

A good skills section for this role would lean toward curiosity, scripting basics, and process thinking rather than deep engineering ownership.

Tools an AI Automation Intern in Infrastructure should know or be exposed to

• Python for scripting and automation
• PowerShell or Bash for task automation
• Git or GitHub for version control
• ServiceNow or similar IT service management tools
• Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms
• Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
• Ansible or similar configuration automation tools
• Monitoring tools such as Splunk, Datadog, SolarWinds, or Grafana
• Excel, Power BI, or similar tools for data analysis and reporting
• Microsoft Teams, Jira, or Confluence for collaboration and documentation
• AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or automation platforms where appropriate and approved
