Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking an IT Systems & Applications Administrator for a manufacturing site. You will take hands-on responsibility for day-to-day IT operations and ongoing infrastructure improvements.

You will manage Windows Servers, Hyper‑V, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and Microsoft 365 services, and support bespoke production applications while collaborating with software partners.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or IT Infrastructure Engineer, ideally in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, or similar operational setting.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Hyper‑V.
• Solid practical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL queries.
• Firm grasp of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Experience managing Microsoft 365.
• Comfortable supporting bespoke applications; reading/troubleshooting VB or VB.NET code is highly desirable (but not essential).
• Excellent troubleshooting and independent problem solving with strong communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Take full hands-on responsibility for day-to-day IT operations and site infrastructure improvements.
• Administer and maintain Windows Servers and virtual environments (Hyper‑V).
• Support production applications and collaborate with software partners.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, software, networks and databases for shop floor users.
• Own the Microsoft SQL Server data extraction, reporting and query resolution.
• Maintain and improve site networking, firewalls, and security systems.

About Your New Job

• As the IT Systems & Applications Administrator, you will take full hands‑on responsibility for day‑to‑day IT operations and ongoing improvement of the site’s infrastructure.
• You will administer and maintain Windows Servers and virtual environments (Hyper‑V), manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and core Microsoft 365 services.
• Support and enhance bespoke business‑critical production applications and collaborate with third‑party software partners.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across hardware, software, networks, and databases, supporting the shop floor and end users directly.
• Take operational ownership of Microsoft SQL Server, extracting and manipulating data, maintaining reports, and resolving database queries.
• Maintain and improve site networking, including SonicWall firewalls, Ubiquiti UniFi equipment, LAN/WAN, and security systems.

What Skills You Need
