Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be registered in the General Division of the NMBI Register of Nurses.
• Level 9+ qualification in Infection Prevention and Control.
• Minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience in Infection Prevention and Control within a hospital setting.
• PRINCE2 qualification or be willing to undertake it immediately.
• Strong knowledge of HIQA, JCI, HSE and other relevant regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic management, service planning and implementation of IPC projects, including renovations and construction works.
• Lead, manage and coordinate IPC teams and resources to ensure high standards of service delivery.
• Provide professional and clinical leadership, guidance and support to IPC staff and project teams.
• Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate IPC policies and service plans according to guidelines.
• Provide specialist IPC advice for construction, renovation and redevelopment projects, including risk assessments.
• Monitor governance, quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards, leading audits and improvements.
• Identify, assess and manage clinical risks, outbreaks, and safety concerns with reporting and corrective actions.
• Coordinate staff education and development programs promoting evidence-based practice.
