Mercy University Hospital in Cork, Ireland, advertises a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) / Candidate in Infection Prevention & Control. The role is permanent, part-time (0.5 wte) and on-site.

The CNS will lead infection prevention programs, support staff, and coordinate IPC activities across MUH to improve patient safety and reduce hospital-acquired infections. The post requires active NMBI registration or eligibility, IPC experience, and a QQI NFQ Level 9 qualification or higher in IPC,

Formación

• Be a registered nurse or midwife on the active NMBI register.
• Minimum 1 year post-registration experience in infection prevention & control.
• Post-registration programme at QQI NFQ Level 9 or higher in IPC.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Ability to practice safely within scope of practice.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor, surveil, investigate, prevent and control Hospital Acquired Infections.
• Investigate outbreaks and report source and spread.
• Advise on isolation techniques and support line managers.
• Provide safe nursing care under NMBI guidelines.
• Manage own caseload and participate in MDT meetings.
• Communicate with patients’ families and carers in collaboration with MDT.
• Maintain clinical competence and evidence-based practice.
• Conduct ongoing PIC surveillance and chart reviews.
• Audit infection control practices across MUH.
• Provide clinical leadership and act as IPC resource.
• Develop and implement clinical standards and guidelines.
