Job summary

Steering Point represents a well-established private surgical hospital in the Irish Midlands seeking an Infection Prevention & Control lead to drive IPC strategy, policy, surveillance and accreditation across the hospital.

You will chair the Infection Control Committee, report to the Quality & Risk Manager and Director of Nursing, and have a strong voice in hospital-wide decisions, shaping infection prevention practices and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active NMBI registration on the General register.
• Post-graduate IPC qualification (Level 9) or IPC specialist qualification with substantial experience.
• Five or more years' post-registration experience, much of it in IPC or CNM2 roles.
• Proven track record leading IPC programmes, HCAI surveillance and audit in an acute setting.
• Experience with HIQA, CHKS or equivalent regulators.

Responsibilities

• Lead the IPC programme end to end: strategy, policy, surveillance, audit, outbreak response, education and accreditation.
• Chair the Infection Control Committee and report to Quality & Risk Manager and Director of Nursing.
• Drive hospital-wide IPC governance and decision-making.

Our client, a well-established private surgical hospital in the Irish Midlands, is expanding its services and is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention & Control specialist to lead IPC across the hospital.

This is a genuine leadership role. You will own the IPC programme end to end: strategy, policy, surveillance, audit, outbreak response, education and accreditation. You will chair the Infection Control Committee, report directly into the Quality & Risk Manager and Director of Nursing, and have a real voice in hospital-wide decision-making.

The hospital

A multi-theatre surgical hospital with an endoscopy unit, delivering care across a broad range of surgical specialties, alongside a 24/7 stepdown unit, minor injuries unit and rapid access clinic operated in partnership with the HSE. Accredited to CHKS standards, with JAG standards applying in endoscopy.

What you will bring

• Active NMBI registration on the General register.
• A recognised post-graduate IPC qualification (Level 9), or an IPC specialist qualification with substantial experience.
• Five or more years' post-registration experience, a significant proportion in an IPC specialist or CNM2 role.
• A track record of leading IPC programmes, HCAI surveillance and audit in an acute setting.
• Experience working with HIQA, CHKS or equivalent regulatory and accreditation bodies.

Private hospital experience, antimicrobial stewardship and exposure to new builds or renovations would be an advantage.
