Job summary

Blackrock Clinic, part of Blackrock Health, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Infection Prevention and Control. The role focuses on preventing infections, providing expert guidance, and leading improvements across the hospital.

Qualifications

• Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI.
• Must have a minimum of five years post registration experience in an acute hospital.
• A recognized Infection Control qualification or be in pursuit of same.

Responsibilities

• Act as a role model through professional leadership and demonstration of best practices in infection prevention and control.
• Provide specialist knowledge, consultancy and expertise in collaboration with hospital management, nursing and all healthcare staff.
• Advise on the nursing care of individual patients with infectious conditions.
• Advise hospital management and nursing personnel regarding isolation facilities or transfer of patients to infectious disease/isolation units.
• Maintain effective communication structures to ensure infection control information is conveyed quickly and effectively.
• Assist and investigate outbreaks of hospital infection and compile root cause analysis.
• Advise and support ward/department managers in implementing infection control policies and guidelines.
• Implement an efficient infection control surveillance system to identify patients and staff with infection.
• Participate in accreditation processes and infection control committees.
