Job summary

RecruitNet International Ltd is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Infection Prevention and Control to join a Dublin hospital. The role provides professional clinical leadership, develops policies, and supports patient safety across disciplines.

You will lead surveillance, outbreak investigations, and staff training, while advising on isolation, waste management and environmental controls. A recognised infection control qualification or progress toward one is required.

Qualifications

• Be registered in the general division of the NMBI.
• Minimum of five years post-registration experience in an acute hospital.
• A recognised Infection Control qualification or be in pursuit of the same.
• Experience in clinical leadership and governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional clinical leadership in infection prevention and control.
• Act as a specialist resource for hospital management, nursing, medical and healthcare staff.
• Develop, implement and review infection prevention policies and risk controls.
• Lead infection surveillance, outbreak investigation and root cause analysis with multidisciplinary teams.
• Advise on isolation practices, waste management, hygiene and environmental measures.
• Conduct audits, inspections and KPI reviews and recommend improvements.
• Provide education and ongoing support to staff on infection prevention and CPD.
• Promote patient-centred care and effective communication.
• Contribute to quality improvement, risk management and accreditation activities.
• Provide consultancy and present reports to committees; support service development.
