Job summary

Softworks Ltd. invites applications for a Junior Prompt Engineer in Bray, Co. Wicklow. This entry‑level role supports rapid prototyping of AI‑driven features, tests prompts, and assists in building early‑stage proofs of concept to turn research into usable business tools.

You will craft prompts across models, evaluate outputs, prepare datasets, and collaborate with AI and product teams in a hybrid office setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or related field.
• Foundational understanding of LLMs, including context windows, prompting techniques, strengths, and limitations.
• Hands‑on experience, or a strong tinkering mindset, experimenting with AI tools, e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney.
• Analytical mindset with high attention to detail for analysing text outputs, identifying edge cases, and verifying logic formatting.
• Adaptability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing technology landscape.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with Ai‑assisted development tools, such as Cursor or Claude.
• Basic understanding of LLM orchestration frameworks, e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, or direct API documentation, e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic.
• Demonstrate agility in a fast‑changing technological environment, being open and adaptable to unsuspecting change.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers and product managers in building and iterating on early‑stage POCs to validate new AI‑driven features, workflows, and integrations.
• Help turn early AI ideas into functional prototypes that prove what is possible while supporting product and operational efficiency validation.
• Write, test, and refine prompts across various foundational models, such as GPT‑4, Claude 3, Llama 3, Gemini, etc., to achieve high quality, reliable outputs.
• Experiment with prompt structures to optimise response accuracy, tone, and logic formatting.
• Run systematic testing frameworks on model outputs to evaluate performance, latency, and effectiveness.
• Categorise model responses, identify hallucinations, and log performance metrics to continuously improve overall reliability.
• Assist in gathering, cleaning, and formatting datasets for prompt testing, few‑shot examples, and basic RAG experiments.
• Ensure data preparation adheres to security, quality, and organisational standards.
• Foster collaboration within the Softworks Group and liaise effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
• Promote knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and continuous learning within the AI team.
• Stay up to date with the rapidly evolving AI landscape, model updates, and emerging tools.
• Document prompt experiments, successes, failures, and best practices to share knowledge with the broader AI team.
