Job summary

Novartis Ireland is seeking a Senior Expert in Rapid Prototyping to design and deploy cutting-edge generative AI solutions for drug discovery. You will build rapid prototypes and scalable AI-powered applications, combining foundation models, retrieval systems, and workflow orchestration to accelerate research decisions.

You will develop production-ready AI systems with strong emphasis on context handling, tool integration, and monitoring, applying solid software engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying AI/ML systems in production.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience designing large language model applications including retrieval augmented generation and tool integration;
• Strong proficiency in Python and building scalable services and APIs.
• Experience delivering end-to-end AI solutions including prompt design, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain/LangGraph or similar ecosystems.
• Experience applying modern software engineering practices including testing, version control, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of evaluation metrics for generative AI systems including quality, reliability and cost.
• Awareness of security, governance and responsible AI in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy generative AI solutions for drug discovery and biomedical research workflows.
• Build rapid prototypes and scalable apps with LLMs, retrieval systems, and workflow orchestration.
• Develop production-ready language model apps with context handling, tool integration and monitoring.
• Translate emerging AI approaches into practical reusable solutions.
• Apply engineering best practices including testing, benchmarking, and version control.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI solutions aligned with research priorities.
• Identify opportunities to boost scientist productivity using AI assistants and workflow automation.
• Contribute to architecture, scalability, security and reliability of AI systems.
• Share best practices and reusable components across teams working on AI applications.
• Evaluate emerging tools and frameworks to advance AI capabilities.
