Job summary

Red Hat OpenShift AI team in Ireland is offering a Software Engineer Intern position based in Dublin for a January 2027 start. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in building hybrid cloud MLOps features, open source contributions, and collaboration within a dynamic team.

You will perform engineering tasks under guidance, work in an Agile environment, and collaborate across the team to deliver innovative solutions while gaining exposure to AI tooling and community involvement.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university degree in computer science or related field within Ireland.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn.
• Ability to give and receive feedback in a meaningful manner.
• Passion for problem-solving and debugging technical issues.
• Working knowledge of Git workflows.
• Good understanding of scripting and programming with Python and Golang.
• Basic understanding of Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with configuration management, automation tools, and containerisation.
• Active online presence (e.g., GitHub) with interest in community development.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks under the direction of an experienced engineer.
• Join an agile development team (scrum and kanban).
• Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and help deliver creative solutions.
• Work both on your own, remotely, and collaboratively with others.
• Help mentor a transition year student.
• Contribute to the open-source community.
• Present a topic at Lunch & Learn events.
• Proactively use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development cycles and improve code quality.
