Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Git workflows.
  • Good understanding of scripting and programming with Python and Golang.
  • Basic understanding of Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, automation tools, and containerisation.
  • Active online presence (e.g., GitHub) with interest in community development.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

The Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI) team is looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join us in Ireland. Our focus is to create a platform, partner ecosystem, and community by which enterprise customers can solve problems to accelerate business success using AI. What you will do:
  • Perform engineering tasks under the direction of an experienced engineer
  • Become an active member of an agile development team, both scrum and kanban
  • Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers in your team
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and help deliver creative solutions
  • Work both on your own, remotely, and collaboratively with others in your team
  • Help mentor a transition year student, transferring your learned skills to the younger students
  • Contribute to the open-source community
  • Present a topic, not always technical, to the Cloud Services team at one or more of our Lunch & Learn events
  • Proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.
What you will bring:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university degree in computer science or a related technical field within the Republic of Ireland, with full-time availability from January through August 2027 for the entire internship duration.
  • Growth mindset; willingness to learn and challenge yourself
  • Ability to give and receive feedback in a meaningful manner
  • Passion for problem-solving and debugging technical issues
  • Some working knowledge/understanding of Git usage and workflows (Git workshops are provided for all interns when they join).
  • A good understanding of scripting and programming with languages such Python, Golang
  • A basic understanding or knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Some understanding of configuration management, automation tools, and containerisation technologies.
  • Active online presence (e.g. GitHub) with interest in community development is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English
