Red Hat OpenShift AI team in Ireland is offering a Software Engineer Intern position based in Dublin for a January 2027 start. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in building hybrid cloud MLOps features, open source contributions, and collaboration within a dynamic team.

You will perform engineering tasks under guidance, work in an Agile environment, and collaborate across the team to deliver innovative solutions while gaining exposure to AI tooling and community involvement.

Qualifications

The Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI) team is looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join us in Ireland. Our focus is to create a platform, partner ecosystem, and community by which enterprise customers can solve problems to accelerate business success using AI. What you will do:

• Perform engineering tasks under the direction of an experienced engineer
• Become an active member of an agile development team, both scrum and kanban
• Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers in your team
• Troubleshoot technical issues and help deliver creative solutions
• Work both on your own, remotely, and collaboratively with others in your team
• Help mentor a transition year student, transferring your learned skills to the younger students
• Contribute to the open-source community
• Present a topic, not always technical, to the Cloud Services team at one or more of our Lunch & Learn events
• Proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.

What you will bring:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university degree in computer science or a related technical field within the Republic of Ireland, with full-time availability from January through August 2027 for the entire internship duration.

• Passion for problem-solving and debugging technical issues
• Some working knowledge/understanding of Git usage and workflows (Git workshops are provided for all interns when they join).
• A good understanding of scripting and programming with languages such Python, Golang
• A basic understanding or knowledge of Linux operating systems
• Some understanding of configuration management, automation tools, and containerisation technologies.
• Active online presence (e.g. GitHub) with interest in community development is a plus.
• Working knowledge of written and spoken English
