Job summary

Red Hat, Inc. is offering an Emerging Technology Intern position in Waterford, Ireland. You will join a team exploring AI, migration to cloud-native platforms, and infrastructure automation with PoC projects and collaboration across open-source communities.

The internship runs January to August 2027 with hybrid working options and a paid program. You’ll gain hands-on experience with PyTorch, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and modern development workflows while contributing to real engineering problems.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship.
• Working knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Background in software development through Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related degree program.
• Familiarity with UNIX or Linux environments.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware concepts.
• Coding experience in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Rust, or C/C++.
• Curiosity and aptitude for learning new technologies quickly and switching context between projects.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a dynamic team exploring AI, developer productivity, workflow automation, and managed services.
• Build and iterate on Proof-of-Concept implementations for AI and cloud-native platforms, including model training and inference pipelines.
• Work with PyTorch, vLLM, container runtimes, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Write code in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Rust, or C/C++ to connect infrastructure and AI systems.
• Ensure PoC systems can be deployed in repeatable and automated ways.
• Present your work to technical audiences across Red Hat.
