Job summary

Claran Consultants Ltd is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineer for a leading biopharma facility in Co Cork to support small molecule manufacturing and act as a user representative. This is a 12-month contract focusing on design, implementation and regulatory compliance of HVAC systems across labs and production areas.

You will work with cross-functional teams, define project scopes with end users, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining GMP standards and training requirements.

Qualifications

  • Third Level Qualification in Engineering.
  • Language requirements: Proficient in English.
  • At least 5 years HVAC experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Good communications and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Be a safety advocate, adhering to and promoting safety standards.
  • Responsible for design of new HVAC systems and modifications to existing systems.
  • Define project scopes with user representatives and detail in user requirement specifications.
  • Coordinate technical requirements with area user representative.
  • Provide estimates and technical guidance for CIR completion.
  • Draft initial CIR for presentation for approval.
  • Select and procure HVAC plant equipment, tender and award HVAC contracts with Purchasing.
  • Ensure estimates support cost monitoring.
  • Understand GMP requirements and ensure project design complies with them.
  • Develop design calculations, drawings, scope documents and specifications.
  • Understand local and corporate procedures and ensure project compliance.
  • Comply with project execution guideline.
  • Understand Validation requirements and determine Validation for projects.
  • Work with Validation group to develop documentation.
  • Place requisitions for components and adhere to FRAP policy.
  • Monitor projects for scope, budget, schedule and report monthly via scorecard.
  • Responsible for HVAC construction management and commissioning (air and utility balancing).
  • Coordinate shutdown planning with business area team.
  • Interpret FDA/guidance for HVAC standards and specifications.
  • Identify personal training requirements and complete required training.

Job description

HVAC Engineer required for a leading Co Cork based Biopharma facility, to provide support to the Small Molecule business and act as a user rep. Initially a 12 month contract. Role: To provide HVAC support to manufacturing facilities. To provide engineering support for the Lab and other areas with specific HVAC requirements. Working with others define and implement projects that meet the requirement of user areas, on time, within budget, and meeting all regulatory requirements. Support continuous improvement in project engineering through technical and practical insight of project delivery processes and understanding of end user needs.

Personal Considerations: At times, the Project HVAC Engineer may need to travel offsite to other locations, other pharmaceutical companies, conferences, vendor sites (for Factory Acceptance Tests) or off-site training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the local and corporate procedures and ensure the project complies with them.
  • Specifically, comply with the project execution procedure/guideline.
  • Understand the Validation requirements and determine the Validation required on the projects.
  • Work with the Validation group to develop the documentation and complete the required documentation.
  • Place the requisitions for the components required for the projects and adhere to the FRAP policy.
  • Monitor the projects for compliance to scope, budget and schedule and report on the projects monthly via the scorecard.
  • Responsible for the HVAC construction management for the projects.
  • Responsible for commissioning of HVAC systems (air and utility balancing).
  • Co-ordinate the shutdown planning of the projects with the business area team.
  • Interpret the FDA and other relevant guidelines with respect to HVAC and determine the required standards and specifications.
  • Identify personal training requirements and proactively complete required training.
