Job description

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Quality Engineer to support the construction, inspection, testing and turnover of HVAC systems on a major biopharmaceutical facility expansion in County Dublin.

Working within the site-based project delivery team, the successful candidate will provide contractor-facing QA/QC support and ensure HVAC installations and their supporting records comply with approved design information, project quality requirements and the expectations of a GMP-regulated facility. The role will work closely with HVAC Engineering, Construction, contractors, Commissioning and CQV.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide field-based QA/QC engineering support across HVAC construction and completion activities.
  • Review contractor quality plans, Inspection and Test Plans, method statements and inspection checklists.
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections of ductwork, air-handling units, dampers, terminal filtration, supports, insulation and associated HVAC installations.
  • Verify installation against approved drawings, specifications, technical submittals and project quality requirements.
  • Confirm that required inspections, tests and hold or witness points are completed and accurately recorded.
  • Review material certification, inspection records, test results, red-line drawings and other quality documentation.
  • Raise, track and support the resolution of non-conformances, defects and recurring quality issues.
  • Monitor contractor quality performance and promote preventive action and right-first-time installation.
  • Participate in system and subsystem walkdowns and support the identification, categorisation and closure of punch items.
  • Coordinate with HVAC Engineering, Construction, contractors, Commissioning and CQV to resolve quality and documentation issues.
  • Support review and compilation of system turnover dossiers and verify that records are complete, accurate and traceable.
  • Identify quality or documentation gaps that could delay mechanical completion, commissioning or qualification.
  • Provide regular reporting on inspections, NCRs, punch items, documentation status and key quality risks.
Skills & Experience
  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quality, Construction or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least five years' QA/QC or Quality Engineering experience, with a strong focus on HVAC construction.
  • Demonstrated experience with Inspection and Test Plans, field inspections, NCRs, punch lists and construction quality records.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC installation practices and the ability to interpret HVAC drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Experience reviewing contractor quality documentation and supporting mechanical completion and turnover.
  • Strong attention to detail with the confidence to challenge incomplete or non-compliant work.
  • Excellent contractor-facing communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical capital-project experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with GMP HVAC, cleanrooms, classified areas, commissioning or CQV documentation would be advantageous.
Contract Information
  • Rate: TBC dependent on level of skills and expertise.
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Length of Contract: 12 months contract with possible extension.
  • Schedule: 4-5 days per week on site.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must hold an Irish/EU passport or a valid Stamp 4 permission enabling them to work in Ireland
