Job description

My client are a young residential developer with over 650 units and 3 sites ongoing with another 6 starting before year end.

They are looking for a HR Manager ( flexible with the title ) who will head up, manage and develop the HR function for the company. This is 5 days a week, based in the office in Kilcock, 8am to 5pm.

They are growing fast and the informal people practices that served a smaller company no longer hold, and the structures around their people — how they plan the workforce, hire, develop, reward, retain and stay compliant — now need a professional footing.

The HR Manager is the person who puts that footing in place and then runs it. My client operates a distributed people model: rather than a large HR department, responsibilities sit with the senior leadership team and line management, supported by systems, staff committees and outsourced specialists, with overall accountability held by the COO.

This role makes that model work. It is a hands-on, standalone position ( may be room for a HR administrator down the line ). The post-holder personally administers the HR system, records, contracts, probation and reporting, and personally authors and implements the policies, processes and frameworks the business needs. There is no team to delegate to, and the expectation is that the work is owned end to end.

Responsibilities
  • HR systems, records and data protection
  • Employee lifecycle and probation control
  • Employee relations, employment law and policy
  • Recruitment, onboarding and employer brand
  • Performance, development and the competency framework
  • Reward and benefits support
  • Culture, engagement and committees
  • Compliance, reporting, risk and the role register
Person specification :

Demonstrable authored output: policies, handbooks, frameworks, dashboards or reports the candidate personally wrote and which were then used.

  • Evidence of having built something from nothing and carried it to steady state, and of having taken on work without being asked.
  • Strong practical employee relations experience — grievances, disciplinaries, absence, performance management and exits — handled personally and consistently.
  • Sound working knowledge of Irish employment law, and practical GDPR experience with employee data including special-category data.
  • Strong HRIS and systems skills, and genuine confidence with data, spreadsheets and reporting — not tolerance of it.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ years' experience in Human Resources
  • Strong recruiting and demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition strategies
  • Demonstrated expertise training managers and employees
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
