  • Degree or professional qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting employee relations cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Support disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management, and probationary processes.
  • Attend formal meetings and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
  • Promote consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Support payroll-related activities and ensure timely submission of employee changes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal governance requirements.
  • Assist with policy development, review, and communication.
  • Support performance review processes and coordinate learning and development initiatives.
  • Assist managers in setting objectives and development plans.
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives.
  • Support talent management and succession planning activities.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programmes.

Job description

As a HR Generalist, you will provide hands-on operational and advisory HR support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring the effective delivery of people processes, policies, and initiatives.

The role partners with managers and colleagues to support employee relations, recruitment, performance management, engagement, compliance, and organisational change, while ensuring adherence to company policies and employment legislation.

The role requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and project management acumen, making it ideal for HR professionals passionate about driving meaningful change within an organisation.

You will be joining a team of experienced HR professionals who are working to create these best-in-class programmes, initiatives and strategies in Supply Chain & Retail and the wider businesses.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Support disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management, and probationary processes.
  • Attend formal meetings and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
  • Promote consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Support the resolution of workplace issues in a fair and timely manner.
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Support management with defining key roles and specifications as part of workforce planning.
  • Support with interviews and hiring managers with recruitment best practice.
  • Ensure a positive onboarding experience for new colleagues.
  • Facilitate induction activities and completion of new starter documentation.
HR Administration & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
  • Produce HR reports and management information as required.
  • Support payroll-related activities and ensure timely submission of employee changes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal governance requirements.
  • Assist with policy development, review, and communication.
Performance & Talent Management
  • Support performance review processes across the business.
  • Assist managers in setting objectives and development plans.
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives.
  • Support talent management and succession planning activities.
Employee Engagement
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programmes.
  • Assist in the delivery of wellbeing, diversity, equity, and inclusion activities.
  • Partner with managers to identify opportunities to improve colleague experience.
  • Support internal communications relating to people initiatives.
Organisational Support
  • Assist with organisational change programmes and consultations.
  • Support workforce planning and organisational design projects.
  • Contribute to HR improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Participate in HR projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Degree or professional qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting employee relations cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience within retail, healthcare, pharmacy, or multi-site environments.
  • Experience supporting organisational change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of workforce planning and talent management practices.
