Job summary

The Central Bank of Ireland is seeking an HR Advisory Associate on a Contract of Indefinite Duration within the Human Resources Division. This role supports line managers on employee relations, case management from probation to disciplinary matters, and aims to minimise risk while ensuring fair and compliant processes.

New entrants start on BE salary scale at €39,871; the Bank operates a hybrid working model with a focus on wellbeing and policy governance.

Qualifications

  • 3 years' general HR experience, including working with line managers.
  • Experience and understanding of HR employee relations practices.
  • Knowledge of current Irish Employment legislation.
  • Ability to assess potential problems and make decisions affecting the business.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support line management on people issues in a confidential, compliant manner.

  • Educate HR colleagues and management on processes including Disciplinary and Dignity at Work.
  • Regularly review HR policies to ensure they are fit for purpose and compliant.

Job description

The Central Bank of Ireland serves the public interest by safeguarding monetary and financial stability and by working to ensure that the financial system operates in the best interests of consumers and the wider economy.

We currently have a vacancy for a HR Advisory Associate on a Contract of Indefinite Duration in the Human Resources Division.

This role is aligned with the Bank Executive Scale and the BE salary scale. New entrants will commence on Point 1 of the relevant salary scale; starting salary €39,871.

The purpose of this role is to support line managers on employee relations matters and the case management of individual cases, ranging from probation, performance, absenteeism and grievance & disciplinary issues through internal mechanisms and potentially to external third-party arbitration. Provide support to the Specialist and/or Manager on more complex cases. Intrinsic to the role will be minimising risk to the Bank on ER matters, review and implement appropriate HR policies that support a fulfilling place to work and drive the delivery of the Bank's Wellness agency.

Responsibilities:
  • Support line management on people issues, in a confidential and sensitive manner in order to help managers deal appropriately, from a legislative and employee relations perspective.
  • Progress cases from commencement to case completion and deliver a consistent, knowledgeable and professional service in areas including disciplinary, grievance, absenteeism, probation, performance, dignity at work etc, to contribute to ensuring all such matters are dealt with in line with policy, best practice and legislative requirements in order to mitigate risk for the bank.
  • Support the performance management process by providing guidance on appeals and other associated issues to contribute to supporting the integrity and effectiveness of the process.
  • Support the Occupational Health Specialist with scheduling, drafting referrals and liaising with people managers to assist with the implementation of Occupational Health recommendations.
  • Drive and support the delivery of the Bank’s Wellness Strategy through appropriate initiatives and ensuring alignment of policies to the overall strategy so as to enhance the Bank as a fulfilling place to work.
  • Assist in educating HR colleagues and management in effectively implementing processes and procedures including for example Disciplinary, Grievance and Dignity at Work, including guidance on early intervention strategies to contribute to minimising any exposure to the Bank and help them develop capability and confidence in addressing issues.
  • Regularly review HR policies to ensure they are fit for purpose, consistent with legislative changes and in line with best practice.
Requirements:
  • A HR or business degree or related discipline. CIPD qualified is desirable.
  • 3 years' general HR experience, including experience of working with and influencing line managers and experience & understanding of HR employee relations practices.
  • Previous experience of working in industries which have undergone rapid change.
  • Good understanding of current Irish Employment legislation
  • Good knowledge of HR related policies & procedures and experience of practical
  • application and interpretation of same
  • Ability to assess potential problems and make decisions on issues that may have an
  • adverse effect on the business from a HR and employee engagement perspective
  • Good skills in stakeholder management, proven ability in building and managing
  • relationships
  • Good business acumen, commercial awareness and highly motivated; resilient, with
  • an ability to operate in a pressurised environment
  • A good communicator and influencer
  • Execution oriented and an independent decision maker
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of word, excel and PowerPoint
