Job summary

The Johnstown Estate is seeking an experienced Maintenance and Facilities Manager to oversee day-to-day maintenance across the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, kitchens and spa. You will lead a technical team, coordinate external contractors and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key duties include developing preventative maintenance programmes, scheduling inspections, and managing budgets and costs while minimising disruption to guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities management or engineering within hotel or similar setting.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance, safety requirements and statutory compliance.
• Strong contractor management and budget awareness.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proactive, reliable and detail‑oriented with strong ownership.
• Proficient in maintenance management systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day maintenance and upkeep of the property including guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, meeting spaces, spa and external grounds.
• Coordinate and complete repairs in a timely manner; minimise disruption to guests and operations.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme for all building systems.
• Schedule inspections, servicing and repairs to prevent equipment failure.
• Manage requests from Heads of Department; prioritise, assign and close out in agreed timeframes.
• Maintain records of maintenance work, servicing, inspections and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, statutory requirements and fire safety standards.
• Supervise maintenance team members and coordinate external contractors and service providers.
• Monitor energy usage and seek opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Assist with budget preparation and cost control; ensure value for money.
