Job summary

Jacobs in Ireland is seeking a Highways Engineer to lead delivery across the full lifecycle of major schemes, from feasibility through detailed design to implementation. You will provide technical direction on highways, junctions, and active travel, ensuring compliant, high-quality outputs.

You'll work at the interface of clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, supporting programmes with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the National Transport Authority, Irish Rail, local authorities,

Qualifications

A Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering.
Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
Thorough understanding of TII Publications, UK DMRB standards, and Active Travel standards.
Proven technical experience in major highway, local road, or active travel schemes, with a sound knowledge of H&S legislation.
Experience in construction supervision and road safety auditing.
Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Understanding of H&S legislation.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of projects across the full lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design and implementation.
Provide technical direction across major highways infrastructure, junctions, and active travel schemes.
Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant design outputs.
Influence nationally significant infrastructure programmes and shape transport outcomes in Ireland.
