Job summary

Jacobs in Ireland is seeking a Civil Engineer to shape major transport schemes across the country. You’ll take ownership of feasibility studies, scheme reports, and detailed highway and active travel designs, contributing to safer, smarter infrastructure for communities.

Collaborating with clients, stakeholders and public bodies, you’ll work within a hybrid team, with Chartered status and BIM capabilities, to deliver national projects and advance your career.

Qualifications

  • Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent preferred.
  • Understanding of TII Publications, UK DMRB & Active Travel standards.
  • Experience with Major Highway, Local Road or Active Travel schemes and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience of Construction Supervision and Road Safety Auditing.
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of feasibility studies and scheme reports.
  • Prepare detailed highway and active travel designs for major transport schemes.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and the public to ensure clear, safe outcomes.
  • Support delivery across national programmes and local authorities.

Working closely with clients, stakeholders and the public, you’ll bring clarity, collaboration and technical excellence to every stage of delivery. With major programmes underway for TII, the NTA, Irish Rail, leading contractors and local authorities, this is your opportunity to influence nationally significant projects while advancing your career within a growing, high‑performing transportation team.

We currently have exciting opportunities within our Highways Civil Engineering teams in Dublin where your expertise and passion can help drive innovation and growth across our transportation projects.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • A Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering
  • Attained, or close to attaining Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications, UK Design Manual for Roads and Bridge (DMRB) & Active Travel standards
  • Proven technical experience of Major Highway, Local Road or Active Travel schemes and understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Experience of Construction Supervision and Road Safety Auditing
  • Experience of Building Information Modelling (BIM)
