Job summary

Mertonfield Ltd T/A Kilcara House Nursing Home in Listowel is seeking an Health Care Assistant to join our warm, family-run nursing home. This full-time role (39 hours/week) requires day shifts and alternate weekends to ensure continuity and quality of care for residents.

You will work with a team of healthcare professionals to support daily living, maintain residents' dignity, and participate in care plans. Garda Vetting and fluent English are required; full training is provided.

Qualifications

• FETAC Level 5 in healthcare studies/nursing desirable but not essential; full training provided to successful candidate.
• Possess good communication skills; ability to handle confidential information.
• Reliable and flexible with a positive attitude; compassionate, patient and caring.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily activities including personal hygiene, dressing, feeding and mobility.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to residents.
• Monitor and record residents' health and wellbeing, reporting any changes to nursing staff.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
• Assist in the implementation of care plans and activities tailored to residents' needs and preferences.
• Support residents in maintaining their independence and dignity.
• Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the healthcare team.

Job Description

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Health Care Assistant to join our warm and welcoming family run nursing home. Full-Time position 39 Hours/week Applicants must be willing to work days, alternative weekends, and also be flexible to ensure our residents receive continuity, and quality of care. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with older people, and a commitment to enhancing their quality of life. As a Health Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in the daily care and support of our residents, working closely with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
