Job summary

Lotus Care seeks a HealthCare Assistant to support children and adults with intellectual disabilities in a homely community setting in Athlone. The role offers full induction and extensive in-house training, with mentoring and a Refer a Friend scheme.

Responsibilities include supporting daily living activities, managing personal hygiene, and documenting medication dispensation while adhering to HIQA standards. QQI Level 5 and a valid Irish driving license are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Garda Vetting/Police Clearance is expected.
• Minimum QQI Level 5 (8 modules) in Healthcare or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and encourage decision-making, independence, and personal development.
• Provide support in daily living skills, including personal hygiene, health and appearance.
• Work in a person-centred manner to meet individual care plans and goals.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
• Administer and document the dispensation of prescribed medication.
• Document and report incidents and complaints involving staff, service owners or visitors.
• Work with MDT to achieve the goals of service owners.

Contract Type: Full-Time

Working Week: Average of 42 hours a week, day shifts only
