Job summary

GemPool Recruitment is partnering with a leading European technology consultancy in Ireland to appoint a Head of Software who will lead, modernise and scale the software practice.

As a director-level leader, you will set the technical vision, manage senior managers, and ensure delivery excellence for diverse enterprise clients, including AI-enabled SDLC enhancements and product-centric delivery.

This role offers a flexible hybrid working model and strong development opportunities.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in software development with at least 5 years in executive or practice leadership roles.
• Proven track record of transitioning organisations from project-based to product-based delivery models, managing platform strategies, and leading cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong background in consulting or professional services, commercial proposal development, and pre-sales strategy.
• Broad understanding of modern software engineering, Agile methodologies, DevOps, and emerging tech (e.g., AI in SDLC).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 100+ person practice, mentoring team members, managing senior managers, and driving high team engagement and culture.
• Drive SDLC enhancements with an emphasis on incorporating AI capabilities, modern tooling, and integrated engineering/product methodologies.
• Embed product-centric delivery approaches—including outcome-driven roadmaps, platform thinking, continuous discovery, and build/run platform ownership.
• Collaborate with client leaders and sales teams to build go-to-market strategies, shape proposals, and achieve targets across bookings and utilisation.
• Work alongside local and international technology leaders across Advisory, Architecture, Product & Design, and QA.
• Act as an executive point of escalation for complex implementations or distressed projects.

With over 100 professionals across software engineering, architecture, DevOps and test, this practice maintains high utilisation through long-term enterprise client engagements.
