Job summary

Mason Alexander is searching for an experienced Head of Technology in Ireland to lead the IT function, shape the technology strategy, and oversee governance, cybersecurity, and transformation initiatives in a highly regulated financial services setting.

The role reports to the Ireland CEO with a dotted line to the Global CIO and requires a proven track record in leading IT and Change teams, managing vendors, and delivering large-scale technology programs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in financial services IT leadership.
• Experience delivering complex technology implementations and transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of hybrid/multi-cloud environments and ITIL/ITSM familiarity.

• Defining and delivering the IT strategy and technology roadmap.

We are exclusively partnering with a leading financial services organisation to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Head of Technology to lead the organisation’s IT function and shape its technology strategy for the future.

This is a high-impact leadership position with a broad remit spanning IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, transformation, governance, AI, vendors and IT service delivery.

Reporting directly to the Ireland CEO, with a dotted line to the Global CIO, you will play a key role at Executive Committee level and lead a team of IT and Change professionals.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for:

• Defining and delivering the IT strategy and technology roadmap.
• Leading the management and evolution of core IT infrastructure, networks, connectivity, hardware, operating systems and collaboration technologies.
• Ensuring robust cybersecurity controls and working closely with senior security leadership.
• Driving IT transformation, project and change governance across the organisation.
• Identifying opportunities to leverage AI, digital technologies and automation to improve business performance.
• Leading IT service delivery and ensuring consistently high standards against agreed SLAs.
• Managing key technology vendors, third-party providers and strategic relationships.
• Developing and maintaining IT governance, risk, business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks.
• Owning departmental budgets, financial governance and resource planning.
• Supporting global technology initiatives and migration programmes.
• Leading, developing and motivating a high-performing IT and Change team.
• Acting as a senior technology partner to the Executive Committee and wider business.

We’re looking for a proven technology leader with:

• 10+ years’ experience within financial services, ideally in a senior IT, project or programme leadership position.
• Strong experience leading IT functions within a regulated or banking environment.
• Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, security and enterprise technology.
• Experience shaping IT strategy and delivering complex technology implementations and transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of hybrid/multi-cloud environments, ideally within a Microsoft-centric ecosystem.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern technology environments.
• Strong project, change and IT governance experience.
• Experience managing technology vendors and third-party relationships.
• Knowledge of ITIL and IT service management frameworks.
• Strong commercial, budgeting and financial management skills.
• Excellent executive-level communication, stakeholder management and leadership capability.
• A forward-thinking approach to AI and emerging technology.
