Job summary

Methodius Ltd. is seeking a Head of Finance in Letterkenny to lead accounting and financial operations for a major national client in Life & Pensions. This role focuses on operational finance, ensuring robust controls and accurate reporting.

You will drive month-end close, TB outputs, reconciliations, and management accounting, while partnering with stakeholders and IT for system enhancements. Strong leadership and process improvement are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Experience in Finance and Accounting, ideally in financial services.
• Strong TB production and management accounting experience.
• Experience preparing journals, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
• Experience in sub-ledger to GL environments.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups; Power Query advantageous).
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Highly organised with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close activities with accurate Trial Balance outputs.
• Oversee month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications and adjustments.
• Produce management accounts, schedules and variance analysis.
• Manage reconciliations across sub-ledger and GL; address reconciling items.
• Own interface controls between ops systems and GL; ensure data accuracy.
• Support accounting for contributions, transfers, refunds and fees.
• Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Act as primary finance contact for client queries on reconciliations and reporting.
• Prepare clear responses to finance queries; translate technical details for business.
