Job summary

Uniting Holding in Galway city centre seeks an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead the financial management of a diverse property portfolio plus an active hospitality operation. You will work closely with ownership and senior management in a senior, hands-on capacity to support growth and development.

The role covers group-wide financial control, monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, liquidity management and cost control across property and hospitality businesses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant finance or accounting experience.
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Experience within hospitality, property or multi-company environments is advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with owners and senior management.
  • Hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • A recognised professional accounting qualification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Full financial control and oversight across the group.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
  • Monitoring financial performance across our property and hospitality businesses.
  • Reporting directly to ownership and senior management.
  • Management of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll controls.
  • VAT, PAYE and other statutory reporting and compliance.
  • Liaising with accountants, auditors, banks and financial institutions.
  • Monitoring hotel, bar and restaurant margins, labour costs and operating expenses.
  • Property portfolio reporting, including rental income, expenditure, financing and development costs.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve profitability and control costs.
  • Developing and improving financial systems, controls and reporting procedures.
  • Assisting with future investments, acquisitions, developments and business expansion.

The Company

We are seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to join our growing business and take responsibility for the financial management of a diverse property portfolio, alongside a busy Galway city-centre hotel, bar and restaurant operation.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on role for a commercially minded finance professional who can work closely with ownership and senior management and play an important part in the continued growth and development of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Full financial control and oversight across the group
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
  • Monitoring financial performance across our property and hospitality businesses
  • Reporting directly to ownership and senior management

The Ideal Candidate will have:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant finance or accounting experience
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience within hospitality, property or a multi-company environment would be a significant advantage
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and directly with business owners and senior management
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment

A recognised professional accounting qualification would be highly desirable.

Salary & Package

€60,000–€90,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

An attractive additional package will be available for the right candidate, including the potential for performance-related bonuses and other benefits.
