The Maryborough Hotel in Cork is seeking an experienced, commercially focused, and detail-oriented Financial Controller to take responsibility for the financial management and reporting of the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing insightful financial analysis to support effective business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
- Manage and oversee all banking, cash management, and related financial processes.
- Maintain the nominal ledger, ensuring all accounts are accurately recorded and fully reconciled.
- Oversee the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring efficient and timely processing.
- Manage payroll and wage processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment.
- Monitor and manage stock control processes, identifying variances and implementing appropriate controls.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial reports and management accounts.
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and accounting standards.
- Provide management with meaningful financial insights, analysis, and performance reporting to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and overall business performance.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role, ideally within hospitality, retail, or another fast-paced commercial environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with management and wider teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
