Job summary

Dawn Meats is seeking a Group Environmental Officer to support environmental compliance and sustainability performance across the Dawn Meats Group. You will work with site environmental teams to develop, implement, and monitor environmental management systems and drive continuous improvement through strategic projects and programmes.

You will lead data collection on effluent, energy, water and waste, manage ISO50001/ISO14001 frameworks, and coordinate audits and stakeholder communications.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in environmental/energy role.
  • Audit experience and comfortable dealing with governing bodies.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance of the sites EPA licence and related communications.
  • Oversee operation, performance, cost, reporting and resourcing of the onsite Effluent Treatment Plant.
  • Lead the group energy and resource team to achieve energy, water and carbon targets with measurement and reporting.
  • Collect and format data on effluent, energy, water, waste and sustainability measures into KPIs.
  • Maintain and improve ISO50001 Energy management and ISO14001 Environmental management systems on site.
  • Conduct site energy/environmental audits to identify improvement opportunities and resilience.
  • Coordinate waste management across sites in line with group goals.
  • Coordinate with the wider environmental team on upcoming sustainability projects and strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and contractors.

Job Title: Group Environmental Officer

Reporting to: Group Environmental Manager

Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Location optional with regualr travel across sites: Waterford or Charleville Co. Cork, or Rathdowney Co. Laois or Kilbeggan Co. Westmeath, or Kildare town.

Role Summary

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting environmental compliance and sustainability performance across the Dawn Meats Group. Working with the site environmental teams, the Group Environmental Officer will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental management systems, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the delivery of the Group's sustainability objectives through a range of strategic projects and programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Full compliance of the sites EPA licence and all the related communication with relevant external bodies
  • Controlling the operation, performance, cost, reporting and resourcing of the onsite Effluent Treatment Plant
  • Leading the group energy and resource team to achieve energy, water and carbon reduction targets; through measuring, analysis and reporting activities;
  • Capturing all relevant data relating to effluent, energy, water, waste and sustainability measures; and formatting such to form KPI’s for reporting.
  • Maintain and improve ISO50001 Energy management and ISO140001 Environmental management system on site;
  • Complete site energy/environmental audits to identify opportunities for improvement and improve climate change resilience;
  • Co-ordinate all waste management practices on site in line with group goals
  • Liaise with wider group environmental team on upcoming sustainability projects and strategies
  • Promote and manage excellent relationships with suppliers and other service partners, i.e. contractors etc.
Qualifications
  • A relevant 3rd level Environmental/Engineering qualification (preferably B.Sc.\B.E. degree in engineering) or similar;
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar Environmental / Energy role.
  • Audit experience and comfortable to deal with governing bodies
  • Team player capable of working in a large operational team
  • A good knowledge of mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering techniques, managing large amounts of data, report writing; and legislation;
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficient use of MS Office suite, particularly excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English;
  • The ability to work as both part of a team and independently is essential;
