Job summary

Dawn Meats Group in Ireland is seeking a Group Environmental Officer to support environmental compliance and sustainability across the Dawn Meats sites. The role will work with site teams to develop and monitor environmental management systems and drive improvement initiatives.

Based in one of our primary production plants, you will manage EPA licences, oversee energy, water and waste data, and contribute to group sustainability projects while coordinating with the wider environmental team.

Qualifications

  • A relevant third-level Environmental/Engineering qualification (B.Sc./B.E.) or similar.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an Environmental/Energy role.
  • Audit experience and ability to liaise with governing bodies.
  • Fluent English with strong communication skills.
  • Good data handling, reporting, and data-driven decision skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance of EPA licences and related communications with external bodies.
  • Oversee operation, performance, cost, reporting and resourcing of the onsite Effluent Treatment Plant.
  • Lead the group energy, water and carbon reduction targets with KPI reporting.
  • Maintain and improve ISO50001 Energy Management and ISO14001 EMS on site.
  • Coordinate waste management practices across sites and align with group goals.
  • Collaborate with the wider group environmental team on sustainability projects.
  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers and service partners.

Job Title: Group Environmental Officer

Reporting to:Group Environmental Manager

Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Location optional with regualr travel across sites : Waterford or Charleville Co. Cork, or Rathdowney Co. Laois or Kilbeggan Co. Westmeath, or Kildare town.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting environmental compliance and sustainability performance across the Dawn Meats Group. Working with the site environmental teams, the Group Environmental Officer will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental management systems, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the delivery of the Group's sustainability objectives through a range of strategic projects and programmes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be based in one of our Dawn Meatsprimary production plants and will be responsible for:

  • Full compliance of the sites EPA licence and all the related communication with relevant external bodies
  • Controlling the operation, performance, cost, reporting and resourcing of the onsite Effluent Treatment Plant
  • Leading the group energy and resource team to achieve energy, water and carbon reduction targets; through measuring, analysis and reporting activities;
  • Capturing all relevant data relating to effluent, energy, water, waste and sustainability measures; and formatting such to form KPI’s for reporting.
  • Maintain and improve ISO50001 Energy management and ISO140001 Environmental management system on site;
  • Complete site energy/environmental audits to identify opportunities for improvement and improve climate change resilience;
  • Co-ordinate all waste management practices on site in line with group goals
  • Liaise with wider group environmental team on upcoming sustainability projects and strategies
  • Promote and manage excellent relationships with suppliers and other service partners, i.e. contractors etc.
Qualifications

The ideal Candidate will have or demonstrate:

  • A relevant 3rd level Environmental/Engineering qualification (preferably B.Sc.\\B.E. degree in engineering) or similar;
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar Environmental / Energy role.
  • Audit experience and comfortable to deal with governing bodies
  • Team player capable of working in a large operational team
  • A good knowledge of mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering techniques, managing large amounts of data, report writing; and legislation;
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficient use of MS Office suite, particularly excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English;
  • The ability to work as both part of a team and independently is essential;
